It’s not the end of the Line for prop

SWINTON Lions are relieved to hear that man mountain Rob Line will only miss a 'couple of matches' after suffering a sickening injury in Sunday's Northern Rail Cup win at Oldham.

The new prop forward signing suffered broken ribs and concussion in an earth-shattering collision with an Oldham player.

Line is certain to miss Sunday's Northern Rail Cup game at home to higher league Rochdale Hornets.

But the Lions expect him to be available again long before the important stuff starts in the form of their League Two opener on Good Friday, April 6.

Swinton coach Paul Kidd said: "Rob gave us quite a scare. It was one hell of a knock.

"But there was no serious damage done and he should be back in a couple of weeks."

Line joins injured quartet Lee Marsh (back), Steve McCurrie (knee), Anthony Aldcroft (broken rib) and Richard Marshall (broken arm) on the sidelines.

But John Walker is expected to shake off the effects of flu in time for the Rochdale game on Sunday, February 25, kick-off 3pm.

Kidd said: "It's going to be a good test for us. They play in League One and have a lot of quality players. We played three League One sides in pre-season so let's see if we have improved since then.

"We won our first two games and if we win on Sunday we will qualify for the next round.

"We have good competition for places at the moment and I'm happy with the way our form is coming on."
