Two fights in 35 days for Jamie Moore

SALFORD boxer Jamie Moore has signed up for two fights in 35 days after 'totally' recovering from his recent shoulder and knee problems.

The 28-year-old light middleweight underwent shoulder surgery after his last fight with Matthew Macklin in October, which was voted the worldwide fight of 2006 by boxing website Seconds Out, and picked up a 'scary' knee injury playing with his son Mikey on Christmas Day.

But Moore has had no problems in the recovery process. He has been back in training for more than a month and has agreed to an eight-round warm up bout at Goresbrook Leisure Centre on Friday, March 9, and a top of the bill international fight at Altrincham Leisure Centre on Friday, April 13.

The opponent has not yet been finalised for either fight.

Moore said: "These fights are all about moving up the world rankings. I'm not going to defend my British title anymore. I'm looking to progress to a world title fight. I'm having a warm up fight in Dagenham first and then I'll be looking to make a big impression in a top of the bill fight on Sky TV in April."

Fellow Salfordians Steve Foster Junior and Tony Doherty also have fights on the horizon.

Foster Junior, who lost his unbeaten record and his WBU Featherweight title to Derry Matthews in his last fight in October, will be in eight-round action against an undecided opponent at the Liverpool Olympia theatre on Saturday, March 10.

And Duchy-based Doherty, who boasts a 100 per cent professional record, will defend the Celtic Welterweight title he won from Welshman Taz Jones in September 2005 against the same opponent at Cardiff's Millennium Stadium on Saturday, April 4.
