SWINTON Lions were pushed to the limit by a London Skolars team that were as enthusiastic as their vocal cheerleaders on Easter Monday.

The result maintained the Lions' perfect start to the League Two season.

Marlon Billy and the in-form Martin Moana went close to scoring early tries for Swinton.

Andy Saywell had better luck following Wes Rogers' charge and Dave Ashton's excellent support play.

The Londoners took a surprise early lead with a Frank Reid try before Swinton burst ahead.

Chris Morley's try was followed by a Kris Smith penalty goal and Moana's sweet pass then sent in Dave Alstead.

Ian Watson scooted over as the lead went to 22-6 but a converted try from Ben Joyce gave Skolars hope at the break.

Nathan Meischke's six pointer left the Lions briefly worried before the outstanding Moana smashed through two tackles to touch down. And Swinton sealed the spoils when Mike Stout touched down Watson's grubber kick.

London added a consolation try from Chris Shears before Moana battered his way through once more.
