GYMNASTICS ace Abbie Winstanley shows her class on the beam.

ABBIE Winstanley enjoyed double gold medal glory at the North West County Gymnastics Championships in Stockport for the second successive year.
The nine-year-old from Swinton was the highest scoring gymnast in the grade five out of age section and she also helped Greater Manchester to top the team stakes. Abbie qualified for the five-piece competition, which compromises of the bar, beam, floor, vault plus range and conditioning, by winning a silver medal in the North West British Development Club Grades in February.
And Abbie's success mirrored last year's achievements, when she won individual and team gold medals in the North West County Gymnastics Championships' grade six out of age category.
Abbie's mum Jackie said: "Her dad and I are very proud of Abbie. She has worked very hard. She trains five days a week so it takes over her life but she wouldn't have it any other way as she loves being at the gym."
Abbie attends Grosvenor Road Primary School. She took up gymnastics three years ago and her training at the City of Manchester Institute of Gymnastics has recently gone up from 12 hours per week to 18 hours.
