Late heartbreak for Beechfield

BEECHFIELD United suffered a heartbreaking defeat at Denton Town in the first round of the Wray Cup.

They led the cup holders 3-2 with only seconds remaining. Denton scored an equaliser and prevailed 5-3 after extra-time.

The goal scorers for United were Simon Taylor (2) and Danny Rowcroft.

Beechfield Thirds ended the year with a 5-1 success against Old Chorltonians. Scott Fisher (3), Sam Jackson and Mark Robinson netted the goals.

Goals by Aaron Drummond, Ryan Liston, Paul Bramhall, Matt Holloway, Jamie Forshaw and Andrew Bolton gave Beechfield under-11s an emphatic 6-0 win against lowly Salford Juniors.

But the under-eights Tornados lost 5-0 to Barr Hill, the under-nines Tornados went down 3-0 at Swinton Lions, the under-12s suffered a 6-2 defeat at the hands of Moorside Red, the under-13s crashed 3-1 against Astley Bridge and the under-14s were beaten 5-3 by Horwich Town.

Mossie Cassidy was the under-eights' player of the match, Joseph Crossley scored for the under-10s, Jordan Storey bagged a brace for the under-12s, Daniel Kelly netted for the under-13s and the under-14s' goal scorers were Andy Griffin (2) and Ben Rothwell.
