Cruel finish

1/12/2005

SALFORD City will rue coming away empty handed from Saturday's top of the table clash at Nantwich Town.

They lost an entertaining encounter 1-0 and suffered more frustration on Tuesday when their league cup clash with Bacup Borough was postponed because of a frozen Moor Lane pitch.

The game has been rearranged for Tuesday, December 6, kick-off 7.45pm.

And Salford will also play host to Newcastle Town this week. The North West Counties first division clash will kick-off at 3pm on Saturday, December 3.

City were undone by a late deflected shot from Nantwich's Matt Blake at the weekend.

Salford gave a good account of themselves with Andy Pendlebury, Matty Burke and John Robinson all having chances to score.

But Nantwich carved open more goal scoring opportunities and Salford goalkeeper Ashley Timms was forced to make a number of fine saves before the visitors bagged their late winner.
