ECCLES and Salford Juniors are firmly entrenched in a National Conference League Premier Division relegation dogfight after failing to make the most of their first half dominance against Shaw Cross Sharks.

The Roosters bombed a host of first half chances to lead only 6-0 at the break.

Ben Cramant bagged a try and John McAtee added the first of his two conversions.

The game was turned on its head six minutes into the second half when the visitors scored two converted tries in only four minutes.

The Dewsbury team went on to take a 22-6 lead before McAtee combined with John Brookes to send Matt Bateman over the whitewash.

Brookes was the Roosters' top tackler and James Doyle was voted their man of the match.

Eccles and Salford Juniors' A team won their first game of the season, nilling a Golborne Parkside A side that triumphed 82-2 the previous week.

Neil Farrar was the star of the show, scoring four tries, four goals and a drop goal.

The Roosters' other try scorers in their 37-0 North West Counties Division Six win were Chris Hennessy, Alan Evans and Mike O'Boyle.

Eccles' under 18s side suffered an 18-16 league defeat at the hands of Bold Miners and the under 16s crashed out of the Lancashire Cup with a 24-0 loss at Pilkingtons Recreation B.

The table topping under 14s beat Portico Vine by the same score in a league game thanks to tries by Christian Cooper (2), Christian Higgins (2) and Sam Fairhurst.

Fairhurst and Liam Dodds added goals.
