STAND off Lee Marsh won himself a place in Swinton's history books with two tries and three goals to overtake the great Albert Blan's points in a season record as the Lions ended their league fixtures with a narrow defeat.

Swinton produced a nervous performance but it was enough to keep them in fourth place and secure a home clash with Hunslet in the first round of the play-offs.

Dewsbury took the lead on the half hour mark when a loose pass from Phil Joseph let in former Salford winger Darren Rogers for a try.

The Lions had the advantage at the break though with Marsh showing real flair to kick ahead and regather for a touch down.

Marsh converted and he was in the thick of the action again four minutes after the interval, dancing around the Dewsbury defence for a converted try which gave him 284 points for the season, one more than Blan scored in 1960/61.

But the Rams secured second spot in the National League Two table thanks to two Richard Chapman tries and a Jonlee Lockwood touch down.

Substitute Ian Parry pulled back a consolation try for Swinton and Marsh tagged on the extra points.
