Lions half back contemplates surgery

SWINTON Lions half back Warren Ayres is considering going under the surgeon's knife after suffering an horrific double leg break in Sunday's victory over Keighley.
An operation could significantly reduce Ayres' recovery time but he would still be certain to miss the remainder of the season.
Swinton coach Paul Kidd said: "We will support Warren as much as we possibly can. The freak injury is a massive blow to both the player and the club but we are fortunate to have Ian Watson available again. He is one of our best players and we have really missed his leadership skills."
First choice scrum half Watson looks certain to start in Swinton's next game at Sheffield on Sunday, September 4.
Kris Smith and Mick Coates may also play a part after making steady recoveries from their respective shoulder and back injuries.
