STAFF of Life B couldn't emulate first division champions Staff A when they took on the Football in the Swinton 501 League second division title decider.

A 4.5-4.5 draw saw the Football crowned champions by just a single point. Alan Emerton struck a consolation 180 for Staff B. Swinton Legion's Mike Thomas beat Staff A hotshot Darren Brooks 3-2 in the first division individual final, while John Bolton won the second division crown after a 3-1 win against his Bowling Green team-mate Paul Harrison.

The Union are five points clear of the Waterloo in the Salford Regent Log-End League following their 6-1 defeat of the Star and Pendleton Legion B's 4-3 win over the Waterloo, Tommy Hough taking the decider.

Pendleton Legion A also won the odd game in seven against Hyde Park Corner.

The Union won the Joseph Holts Eccles League with some comfort. Second placed Wellington finished eight points adrift, while Royal Oak were a further point behind in third.

Royal Oak's Mark Bowden was the most consistent player in the league with 29 wins from 33 games. He was closely followed by Wellington's Paul Gibson with 27 successes.

Tommy Hough plays for the Union in the Eccles League and his eight-darter was the best not only in that competition but also in any other in the Manchester area in 2004/5.
