Opposition are floored by our gym girls

SALFORD Gymnastics Club blew away the opposition at the Greater Manchester Floor and Vault Championships.

They entered 13 gymnasts at Tameside and picked up 26 medals - far more than any other club.

Zara Gallichan won three gold medals in the under-10s pre-novice section. She excelled on the floor, on the vault and claimed overall glory.

Salford's other gold medal winners were Zoe Smith and Megan Sotheron, who shared the under-eights pre-novice floor title.

Gabrielle Simpson, Amy Reeves and Megan Brinkman also won gold medals on the floor, competing in the under-nines, under-10s and under-12s pre-novice sections respectively. Megan Brinkman enjoyed overall gold medal joy after winning a silver medal on the vault.

Leigh Naylor was an overall winner in the over-12s pre-novice competition. She picked up bronze medals in the individual events.

Amy Reeves secured a silver medal on the vault to take second spot overall at under-10s level.

Salford's other medal winners were Rachel Hickey (bronze), Tanika Shearer (silver), Leah Faulkener (three silver), Melissa Hague (two silver and bronze) and Cara Dudridge (three bronze).
