THE race for the Irlam and Cadishead League's first division title has taken a major twist.

Railway leapfrogged Irlam Con Club A into top spot by beating Conservative Club's B team.

Irlam Con Club A suffered an agonising 4-3 defeat at the hands of third-placed White Horse.

With only three matches remaining, there should be an exciting finish to the second division as well.

Three teams are vying for championship glory and they are all bang on form.

White Lion Nomads defeated Catholic Club A 5-2 to stay two points ahead of title rivals Cadishead Lion and Steelworks B.

Cadishead hammered Catholic Club B 7-0 and Steelworks defeated Coach and Horses by the odd game in seven.

The Union overcame Pendleton Royal British Legion B 4½-2½ to maintain their three-point lead over Waterloo at the top of the Salford Regent League table.

Waterloo edged out the Star 4-3.

The Waterloo outfit have a game in hand on the table-toppers.

Third-placed Brown Cow have two games in hand and are only five points off the pace.

The least darts recorded so far came from Brown Cow's Tony Green and Legion A's Tommy Fitzpatrick.

Both players struck superb 13-arrow legs of log-end slip-up.

Can anyone better their 13-dart feats? Only time will tell!
