KARL Harrison has praised Gareth Haggerty's explosive impact this season.

The Reds boss, a former Great Britain international, knows what it takes to succeed at prop.

And Harrison believes the new, slimline Haggerty has what it takes to represent his country.

"He has got the size, speed and explosion to achieve whatever he wants to achieve," said Harrison.

"Gareth Haggerty has worked really hard in pre-season and is now gaining the rewards."

The 23-year-old front row was in sparkling form in the Reds' win against London last Friday.

And Harrison will be hoping the former England schoolboy can make a similar impact in Saturday's encounter with fierce rivals Leigh.

The Salford coach added: "His second spell against London was very explosive and what the team really needed at that stage of the game. Haggy led the team from the front and he has that ability."

The Reds took on Leigh seven times in the season they were promoted from National League One - winning six and drawing one.

But Harrison knows it will be a very different Centurions outfit his side will face at The Coliseum.

"The team has changed vastly from back then and is a totally different proposition," said Harrison, who has Anthony Stewart available after the winger limped off against the Broncos with a bruised lower back.

The Reds will still be without Nathan McAvoy (hamstring) and Junior Langi (thigh), while Paul Highton has been ruled out for three months after breaking his arm.
