LEADERS Railway won 5-2 at the Steelworks Club but second-placed White Horse A kept up the pressure when they beat Irlam Con Club A by the same scoreline.

The White Horse are two points behind the Railway in the first division of the Irlam and Cadishead League but have a game in hand.

Second division leaders Cadishead Lion beat bottom-team Catholic Club B 7-0 and have a five-point advantage over White Lion Nomads, 4-3 winners at the Tiger Moth.

Cadishead Lions' Lee Dykins hit a 13-dart leg of 501, the best in either division so far.

The top-of-the-table clash in the Salford VIP Log-End League saw the Dover beat the Waggon and Horses 4-3, but only after Billy Bowater had taken the vital decider.

The Dover went clear at the top of the gallon league, too, with victory over Waggon.

On the big board, St Bonifaces Club inflicted a first defeat of the winter on champions Ashley Brook in the Salford Monday League. Alan Roberts and Chris Davies enjoyed individual and pairs wins, so, too, did duo Terry Morley and Ged Nicholls.

A nip-and-tuck encounter saw the honours shared by Stowell Spire and Pendleton Legion.

Borough Social Club, Lord Nelson, Staff of Life A and Swinton Legion are through to the second round of the Swinton 501 League first division knockout.

Tommy Smith hit a 15-darter but his Farmers team lost to the Legion.

Lord Nelson got through on the strength of their first leg win over Folly, who won the return fixture with the help of a 16-darter from Paul Woodcock but lost 10-8 on aggregate.

Tony Gee's 16-darter lit up the Staff of Life's win against Con Club A.

The Bowling Green, Windmill, White Lion and Staff B are through in the second division. Andy Chase hit a 16-arrow leg in the Windmill's fine victory over Blackley Con Club.
