SALFORD boxer Jamie Moore has vowed to avenge the only defeat of his career after defending his British and Commonwealth title for the second time.

The light-middleweight, who stopped Andrew Facey in the seventh round at Belfast's King's Hall on Saturday, hopes to face Scott Dixon in Manchester at the end of February.

"That's the fight I've most had on my mind for the last two plus years," said the 25-year-old southpaw. "I badly want to prove how much I've come on and also prove the defeat should have never had happened in the first place."

Moore lost to Dixon back in July 2001 but there were no such upsets against Sheffield-based Facey. By the end of the second round Facey had been down twice, beating the count only fractionally on each occasion.

Facey was down again in the fifth but fought back and in sixth Moore took a standing count, though he appeared to trip, before flooring his opponent again.

In the seventh it was all over, another crashing left hand to Facey's chin sending him to the canvas.

"I was pleased with the win and the knockout because Facey was awkward and he punched a lot harder than I thought he would," added Moore.
