Grant puts ESJ's youngsters on street to stardom

16/10/2003

ECCLES and Salford Juniors have been thrown a piece of luck, with five of their players being awarded grants.

The club's u18s were given the financial support as part of the 'Street to Stadium' scheme funded by the government.

Marc Gouldin, Louis Taylor, Sean Angus, Carl Mycroft and Sam Lenegan will be the players receiving the grants - aimed at individual youngsters between the ages of 11-19.

The scheme is supported by the Salford Sports Development Team and seeks to help those for whom sport and leisure has the potential to make a difference to their lives. The grant will help them with the costs of equipment, travel, training courses and a number of other expenses incurred.

Club co-ordinator George Hayden said: "Without this support young people can find it difficult to finance their needs and this scheme, through the support of Salford Sports Development, has meant a great improvement to their needs. The backing of 'Street to Stadium' will help them in their dreams of achievement in sport."
