Reds legend says fond farewell

MARK LEE leaves the Willows this month after over a decade as a player and coach.
The Reds announced this month that Lee's contract on the coaching staff would not be renewed - with Steve Blakeley and Alan Hunte filling his role as coach of the Junior Academy.
Lee made over 250 appearances at the Willows after signing in 1990 from St Helens. He was persuaded to sign for the Reds after meeting with then assistant coach Terry Cassidy, and Albert White.
Lee played in two Grand Finals for Salford, against Halifax in 1991 and Keighley in 1996 before leaving the club for a brief spell at Chorley. He made the transition to coaching under Steve McCormack, who was promoted to head coach after John Harvey resigned in July 2001.
McCormack brought Lee back to the Willows once more as assistant manager, where he remained even after McCormack's eventual departure in May 2002. He later became coach of the Junior Academy side.
