MONTON Amateurs slipped towards the bottom reaches of the Air Miles Manchester Premier League with a 2-0 defeat against Elton Vale.

A goal in each half by Anthony Doran and Anthony Samsale condemned Richard Brown's side to their third defeat of the season.

Monton travel to Atherton on Saturday.

Elsewhere in the Premier, Irlam MS were never at the races against second-placed Leigh Athletic - as the Silver Street side's inconsistent run of form continued with a 4-1 defeat.

If it had not been for the superb Dave Ingle at the heart of the Irlam defence, the scoreline could have been a lot worse than 1-0 ito Leigh at half time.

Leigh made it two through Keiron Eaves within five minutes of the restart from a direct free-kick, prompting a direct response from Irlam.

Danny Butters went close on two occasions, and just as it looked as if Irlam could get back into the game, Leigh were awarded a penalty on the break for handball, converted by Gordon Walker.

Deflated, Irlam conceded another goal before the full time whistle - a 30-yard thunderbolt from Walker which capped off a bad day at the office. They travel to Springhead on Saturday.

Swinton Town's game at Hindsford in Division One was called off for player call-ups, but their Reserves mustered a 2-2 draw at home to Hollinwood, Craig Jones and Mike Littler scoring the goals. Town meet Stand Athletic this weekend.
