Tiger Moth win shootout to fly into last four

IT TOOK a 5-3 penalty shootout to take Tiger Moth into the Margaret Piggott Memorial Cup semi-finals at the expense of Catholic Club. The score was 2-2 at the end of extra time.

Tiger Moth will meet Clifton, Premier Cup semi-finalists, on March 9 for a place in the final. Finn McCoul's crushed Boathouse 6-2 to reach the semi-finals.

In the Eccles Challenge Cup first round Swinton Folly handed out a 6-1 thrashing to Astley, while Jarbar beat Drop Inn 2-1.

Two goals by Neil Smith helped Premier Division GM Salford beat Hollins Green 2-0. In the First Division Waggon & Horses galloped over Chandos 7-1, Manchester Maccabi trounced HISC 4-0, Patricroft had a 6-3 victory over Barton Town and there were odd-goal wins for Lightoaks, 2-1 over Weaste Villa, and Parkwyddn, who beat MEL 4-3.

Second Division Swinton crushed Bull's Head 5-1, Salford pipped Walkden Cricket 3-2 and Swinton Moorside had a resounding 4-1 win over Pendleton RBL. Star beat Blue Star Britannia 2-0 in the Third Division, and Rockhouse Hotel defeated Swinton Victoria 3-0.

Fourth Division White Lion and Dutton Arms drew 2-2, while Church Pendleton had a 3-0 win over Barge Inn and Fuller Vale beat Salford JOB 2-0. United Foods had a 7-4 win over Town Hall Tavern in the Fifth and Tophouse Rangers beat Poets 3-2.
