FOLLY'S First Team finished off 2002 in style with a brilliant away win at St Helens. They were in determined mood to continue their recent run of wins and on three minutes John Carew slotted over a penalty.

Burtonwood made it 2-2 before Folly broke out of defence, with veteran Brian Horrocks bursting through two tackles to sprint 40mtrs between the posts. Carew converted to make it 8-2 at half-time. With the wind in his favour, Folly stand-off Craig Gillibrand sidestepped a defender and slotted over a drop goal before scoring a well-taken try from 30mtrs.

Burtonwood hit back with a try from the wing but it proved to be a momentary lapse when Horrocks burst through more tackles to score his second, also converted by Carew. After Paul Southern astutely brought on Paul Salisbury, the substitute scored with his first touch of the ball from a metre out.

With 10 minutes left, Folly's final try came from fellow substitute Chris Hill, who raced 50mtrs for a try, converted by Gillibrand. The man of the match award was given to scrum-half Mark Davies for his tireless running and tackling.
