RL: North West Counties One - Langworthy 12 Wigan St Cuthbert's 30

LANGWORTHY suffered another blow to their hopes of avoiding relegation, going down to Wigan St Cuthbert's at Rabbit Hills.

The Salford side were fired up after their win over Shaw Cross and dominated the game for the first 15 minutes.

It was St Cuthbert's, however, who took the lead with a penalty and then an unconverted try.

Langworthy seemed to have difficulty completing their sets of six and the handling errors gave St Cuthbert's the upper hand. In the dying minutes of the first half Chris Allen managed to get some points on the board for Langworthy when he broke through to score his eighth try of the season.

On the restart Langworthy managed to add four more points to their tally when they were given two penalties after St Cuthbert's consistently interfered with the play of the ball. St Cuthbert's had a try disallowed for off-loading when the tackle was complete but made up for their error as they notched up another 18 points within 20 minutes.

The try of the game belonged to the Salford side, however, when Chris Allen sprinted through to claim Danny Grosvenor's chip and run the length of the field to score in the corner.
