Swim duo star for county

SALFORD swimming duo Nick Jackson and James Doolan starred in Lancashire's first National Counties Championship success for more than 20 years.

Jackson led the Lancashire team home on the final leg of the last team relay event, clocking 24.14 seconds to give Lancashire the title. He also finished 10th in 100m freestyle.

And 12-year-old Doolan, who won the national championships earlier this year, finished 11th and 3rd in the Boys 12/13 years 100m Backstroke and Butterfly.

Lancashire were up against all the counties in the country, as well as regions in Scotland and Wales.

Toby Tunstall, the team manager and President of Lancashire ASA, said: "We have some brilliant swimmers in the county and they were outstanding."
