Lions ready for play-off shock

23/ 9/2002

SWINTON LIONS chief executive Tony Barrow says there might just be a shock on the cards for Sheffield Eagles in Friday night's play-off.

The Lions have won two of their last three Ford Northern Premiership games as they travel across the Pennines - and Barrow predicts that their season might not yet be over.

He told Advertiser Sport: "We're looking forward to it. A few players should be coming back, so we'll be looking to put them under a bit of pressure.

"They think they are just there for the day out but you never know in this game."

Off the field, the Lions are ready to announce a brand-new sponsor and unveil a new strip in the next month which will bring much-needed revenue to the club.

Barrow remained tight-lipped about who the sponsor might be, but said if the move comes off it would be very good news for the Lions. Swinton's stay at Moor Lane is also under negotiation with the Lions looking to secure a two or three year deal at Kersal.

Both Salford City FC and the Lions are said to be happy with the arrangements which saw Swinton complete their final three games of the season within the city boundaries.
