Corvo heads back home

30/ 8/2002

AUSSIE prop forward Mark Corvo has been released from his contract with Salford City Reds, after suffering a serious knee injury.

A knee reconstruction last year saw the forward struggling to find the kind of form which could have earned him regular first team starts.

After getting back to full fitness, the big prop made an impact in a Reds side low on confidence and needing results.

However, a further injury to his knee has brought his season to an abrupt end. Close consultation with the medical team has concluded that he would not be fit to play any further part in the Reds campaign to retain their Super League status.

Director of Football, Steve Simms told us: "Sadly injury has forced Mark out of contention for the rest of the season. With this in mind, Mark has opted to return home to Australia, and will undergo surgery there. It's unfortunate, but these things happen in the game of Rugby League. We wish Mark all the best for his future."
