They're stars of the future

FLEETWOOD welcomed the cream of the North West's rugby talent last week for a special training camp to groom future Great Britain internationals.

Salford Reds youth boss John Blackburn hand-picked the four starlets after an excellent season for the service area team. After the camp, 20 lads will be selected for a Northern trial, from which the Great Britain u16s squad will be picked next year.

Folly Lane's Lee Spencer and Steve Clarkson were also invited to the camp to improve their coaching and offer their experience to the 40 youngsters from all over the region.

Lee told Advertiser Sport: "It was a massive pick-me-up for me to be asked to come along. It's the first time we have ever had two coaches from the area invited."

Folly Lane's star back Scott Johns was selected for the camp but could not attend.
