It's home sweet home as Irlam shine in summer tournament

28/ 6/2002

IRLAM Vale u6s took full advantage of home territory as they romped home in their annual summer football tournament.

The weather was fine - and so was the football on offer as teams from across Greater Manchester came to Princess Park in the tournament, which is currently in its fourth year.

Irlam u9s manager John Williams told Advertiser Sport: "We had a really good turnout, the weather was great and the tournament was definitely a success."

John's u9s unfortunately lost out in the first round - but they can take heart from their Second Division league title they gained during the regular season.

The u9s section was won by Rope and Anchor and the u8s tournament won by South Manchester Boys.
