CADISHEAD Ladies battled bravely in poor conditions but lost out to the more experienced Rochdale outfit.

In an even first half, Cadishead did themselves proud - particularly in defence - where Paula Gannon, Terry Roam and Ann Annis proved tough to beat.

A well-organised Rochdale outfit were restricted to just two tries before the break, and it was testament to both sides' fitness on the first day of the season that the game got even better in the second half.

Cadishead started to find their fluency and had two tries disallowed before Rochdale took the game away from them in the final minutes.
