Lions could be back in city by July

30/ 5/2002

SWINTON Lions could be back in Salford by the end of July if a crunch meeting at Salford City Football Club goes their way.

Salford City's directors and chairman will meet to review Swinton Lions' proposal to play at Moor Lane - possibly as soon as their return fixture with Featherstone Rovers on July 28.

Lions chief executive Tony Barrow says he's got everything crossed. "We're trying to look positive and look to the future," he told us. "We're hoping to hear something about the ground in the next few weeks. If we get the all clear from Salford City it is going to be hard work, we've put a proposal to them with the view of playing our first game on July 28."

And if the proposal is accepted, the fans must follow said Barrow, if the club is to have any future in the area.

"We are hoping and praying that the Swinton public will turn out in force."
