Darren Brown
Skipper Brown set to depart
27/ 7/2001
REDS skipper Darren Brown has announced that he will follow former boss and friend John Harvey out of the door at The Willows.
The 32-year-old has spent the past three seasons with the club and is regarded as a player of true class.
But a string of serious injuries this year look to have persuaded him to hang up his boots and return home to Australia.
Reds boss David Tarry said: "Darren's been a great servant to the club and he's worked very hard, especially with a lot of the younger players.
"He has obviously decided to finish his playing career and head back to Australia. We wish him all the best."
Tarry confirmed that the decision had been made earlier in the season and had nothing to do with the departure of Harvey and appointment of Steve McCormack.
