Lions Trust is well and truly rolling

28/ 2/2001

THINGS are moving fast for the newly-formed Swinton Lions Independent Supporters' Trust.

As reported in last week's Advertiser Sport, fans decided to join forces following the resignation of chairman Malcolm White.

At a meeting of the Trust's steering committee last Thursday, former Swinton and Great Britain star Alan Buckley agreed to become honorary president.

Trust chairman Steve Wild told us: "We have identified a small number of significant financial backers but we need to expand on this. We also need all fans to become subscribers to the Trust. A significant amount of money has already been pledged."

Wild also stressed that Swinton's old enemy could be the key to the club's survival. "Our future might entirely depend on Salford RLFC agreeing to groundshare in the short term."
