HAROLD'S cherished programme

ADVERTISER Sport's build-up to Salford's Challenge Cup fourth round clash with Castleford on Sunday brought the memories flooding back for one particular Reds fan.
Harold Townend, aged 78, was at 1969 Final between the two sides and duly dug out his copy of the match programme from that day. Unfortunately, as on Sunday, the Reds lost to the Yorkshiremen 11-6.
"I drove down with a friend and I remember going to the Conservative Club at the top of Wembley Way," he said. "The programme cost me two bob."
Harold, who was born in Wakefield and lives in Irlam, is now prepared to part with the treasured artefact.
"If anyone has a collection of programmes or memorabilia I would be interested to hear from them," he told us.
