Germans ready to throw in the towel

12/ 2/2001

GERMAN ice-hockey fans are living up to their stereotype for putting towels down by the pool by snapping up tickets for games at the Storm Shelter tonight (Tuesday).

Salford-based Storm, who play their home matches at the MEN Arena, take on Iserlohn Roosters, before a hit-up against Eisbaren of Berlin on Sunday in the Ahearne Trophy.

Storm owner, Gary Cowan said: "There's been a terrific enquiry rate for premium seats from the supporters of the German teams. It's like being on holiday with the German reputation of wanting the best seats by the pool - now they want the best seats in the arena too."

Mr Cowan added: "Hockey fans in this country are well aware of the bigger budgets that the German teams operate with, but everyone in the Superleague is confident that our teams will more than give the Germans a run for their money."

For ticket details phone the Storm hotline on 0161 950 5000.
