SALFORD'S Haiden Wheeldon has been hailed a future world champion after the 10-year-old won his third Thai boxing title.

Haiden became a triple Thai boxing champion by defeating Darlington's Ellis Corie over five one-minute rounds to claim a SIMTA title at the George Carnell Leisure Centre in Urmston.

The Lower Kersal Primary School pupil also has a Wako Pro title and a Fist Northern title to his name and the sky is the limit to what Haiden can achieve according to Richard Lewis, his senior instructor at the Phoenix Muay Thai club.

Richard said: "Haiden is really good, one of the best at the club and I can see him going all of the way in this sport.

"If he continues to progress like he has been doing then he can definitely go on to become a British champion and, hopefully, he will win a world title too. He is capable of it - he is that good."

Haiden, who is pictured below with his three belts, took up Thai boxing at the age of six and he has been a member of the Phoenix Muay Thai club for the past eight months.

The club, which is based on Bank Street in Whitefield, holds sessions for males and females of any age.

Sessions are held six days a week with juniors training from 6pm and adults training from 7pm.

Anyone interested in learning Thai boxing should contact the club on: 0161 723 4042.
