Belt joy for Josh

JOSH Blair's dedication to Thai boxing has paid off in the form of his first inter-club championship belt.

The 13-year-old Walkden Thai Boxing Club ace 'boxed clever' in Little Hulton to gain an unanimous points decision in his championship fight with Tony Smith.

Josh trains most days having taken up the sport 18 months ago.

And Tony, who is a member of the Peel Thai Boxing Club, had no answer to his immense skill and determination.

Ronnie Thompson, the chief instructor at the Walkden Thai Boxing Club, said: "Everyone at the club is over the moon with Josh's championship win.

"His dedication to the sport and his respect and determination towards the club is fantastic and we are all very proud of him."

Clubmate Jamie Morris also recently won his first inter-club championship belt via a points decision. The 10-year-old, who has been a member of the Walkden club for the past four years, was too hot to handle for a young fighter from Bolton.

Meanwhile, the Walkden club, which is based at Grecian Mill, Worsley Road North, is always on the lookout for new members. Anyone interested in taking up Thai boxing should contact Ronnie on: 07973 347 862.
