No rush to recruit last three players

11/ 9/2008

SALFORD City Reds are in no rush to make the three signings that will complete their 2009 Super League squad.

Reds coach Shaun McRae is pleased with the way his squad is shaping up having signed NRL aces Ray Cashmere, Mark Henry, Jeremy Smith and Luke Swain.

He plans to bring in another overseas player to complete Salford’s quota spots and then take the pick of the Super League players who have not been retained by their current clubs.

McRae said: "I’m happy with the players we have retained and the guys we’ve managed to bring in.

"We’ll probably make three more signings and that will be it. And there’s no need to rush to make those signings.

"We can bide our time until the right people come along and then make our move for the right players."

Steve Simms, Salford’s director of football, said: "We are very pleased with the way next season’s squad is shaping up. There will be keen competition for places right across the board and, although the standard of Super League is rising all of the time, I honestly feel we will surprise a few people next season."
