He's on the 'Ball'
20/ 3/2008
SALFORD coach Shaun McRae admits to being pleasantly surprised by the impact that winger Andy Ballard has made so far this season.
The 21-year-old has put in successive man of the match performances in what is his debut season in the Reds’ first team, impressing with his immaculate goal kicking, lightning pace and finishing skills out wide. But McRae insists that Salford’s leading points scorer still has much to prove.
McRae said: "Andy has been part of our Academy set-up for a couple of years now and, to be honest, I didn’t see him as one of our first choice wingers in pre-season.
"But he has forced his way into the team and he has been doing really well.
"He has great pace, is an excellent goal kicker and he has a good rugby league brain. I believe that he is capable of going to the next level and making the step up in class (to Super League).
"But we have only played League Two sides so far. So I will reserve my judgement until Andy has proven that he do well against better teams."
