McRae excited by Salford cup draws
20/ 3/2008
HEAD coach Shaun McRae has expressed his excitement at Salford’s Challenge Cup and Northern Rail Cup draws.
The Reds’ Carnegie Challenge Cup fourth round tie at home to Super League side Wakefield Trinity Wildcats will be screened live on BBC2 from 5.30pm on Sunday, April 20. And Salford will host Bramley Buffaloes or Warrington Wizards in a Northern Rail Cup last 16 tie that is likely to be played on Friday night, April 4.
McRae said: "They are both good home draws. It will be good to catch up with my friend and my former assistant coach John Kear when we take on Wakefield.
"I am sure that he will play his strongest side against us. We are at home, which we are pleased about, and the game represents a great chance for us to prove that we should be a Super League side.
"Wakefield have a quality side and it will be a big test for us. But we have a lot of players who have played in Super League and we would like to think that we are capable of beating them.
"As for the Northern Rail Cup draw, it is one that everyone will expect us to get through and rightly so. We should be in good shape by the time that game comes along as we will have played three league matches by then and I would be very disappointed if we didn’t win that tie."
