Coach says Reds will give their all

20/12/2007

SHAUN McRae has dismissed the suggestion that his Salford side will lack motivation in the forthcoming National League One season.

Gaining promotion to Super League depends on franchise verdicts as opposed to results out on the field.

But head coach McRae said: “I know by the very competitive nature of players that they won’t be out there in the middle of matches with an ‘I don’t care’ attitude. Their personal pride just won’t let them.

“The application for a Super League licence in March is a big thing that the club is gearing towards but as much as anything we want to rebuild a feel-good factor about the club.

“Last year was disappointing for everyone connected with the club, particularly the fans.

“And at the end of the day the fans want to see a winning team and they aren’t going to turn up every week if they think that the players aren’t performing to their potential and giving their all.”

Any player will tell you, that it's good to be on a winning side. for the returnees it will be a chance to be a winner and for the new people, an opportunity to show their worth. And the younger players will get much needed experience. Of course the fans will enjoy witnessing a few wins for a change and hopefully their numbers will increase.Let's everyone get behind Coach McCrae and enjoy a bumper season ,before accepting the challenge of the Super League again .Jim Shelton
