Nash is staying

Dave Lawrenson

PROP Stephen Nash has agreed to stay at Salford next year and the Reds expect fellow young guns Stephen Bannister and Luke Adamson to soon follow suit.

But 12 Salford players, including ex-Huddersfield three-quarter Mat Gardner, look certain to move on having not been offered contract extensions.

it's sad but true. Some players will have difficulty in the SL and they would be abetter fit in the NL. Plus the fact that the team will have to strengthen if they are to be a force in 2009. So places are needed to accommodate new arrivals in the shape of 2 quality centres, a utility back and a couple of forwards of SL pedigree. Taking on Carney may be adopting a problem- will he really change his ways? The management will have to be circumspect about any new signings. Jim Shelton

It's always a shame when players come and go.

But I have every confidence in our head-coach Shaun MaCrae and our Director of Football Steve Simms to have the right players on board for our return to the top flight next season.
