Happy to have rewarded loyal fans

10/ 7/2008

MALCOLM ALKER COLUMN: I WILL take a lot of happy memories from Sunday’s cup final win in Blackpool – and the sight of so many Salford fans smiling at the end of the game is undoubtedly the pick of them.

As captain of the side, I am really proud of the way that we performed. The team deserved that cup after putting in plenty of hard work out on the training pitch and then rising to the big occasion.

We can only hope that the RFL do not become ensnared with geographical and political issues and appoint Salford and Widnes as new entrants in the Super league. These 2 clubs stand out like sore thumbs in their readiness and ability to sustain a "Super" franchise. Jim Shelton
