Leigh 8 Salford 24

Neil Barker
21/ 3/2008

SALFORD City Reds plan to be like bats out of hell from National League One this season, so it was no surprise to find meatloaf on the pre-match menu.

Shaun McRae's men also scoffed wine gums and malt bread to boost their energy levels ahead of last night's opening League clash at Leigh, which the Reds won 24-8.

Brilliant match report, just 5 lines about the game and a pile of stuff that should have been in another story not the match report. Good job I went so I could see for myself who played well and what worked.

Now we know that the Reds can defeat the best that the NL 1 hasto offer. After the Wakefield encounter we will know just how much the Reds will have to improve in order be a force inthe Super League!Torred,Toronto

Awfull conditions and i for 1 would have thought it would have been called off due to it being nothing other than a mud wresting pit. On a good pitch on a good night salford would have been in super form, but it shows that they can do it in mud too. On a good pitch with good weather salford would have slaughtred leigh.

All credit last night to both teams and both sets of fans.

The game was played in the worst conditions I've have ever seen in the 45 years I've been following Salford City Reds.

On the night the Reds were the worthy winners roll on Easter Monday at home to Featherstone Rovers.....
