Bailey's brace sends Charlestown through

MARC Bailey scored a brace of goals as Eccles Sunday Football League outfit Charlestown CYC progressed to the second round of the Manchester FA Sunday Shield with a 3-2 victory over Trafford Hawks.

Liam Foster and Ben Lever both hit hat-tricks as Lightoaks Villa overcame Ship 9-2 in the preliminary round of the Eccles Sunday League’s Margaret Piggott Memorial Cup.

Clarendon Dons crashed out of the competition with a 5-3 defeat to Higher Irlam Social.

Darren Gorman was responsible for all three of Clarendon’s goals.

In the league, Mark Bradshaw netted four times as Salford Celtic stormed to an 11-0 Premier Division victory over Parkwyddn.

A Johhny Warren hat-trick, a brace of goals from Ryan Taylor and a Sean Smith strike ensured that Worsley triumphed 6-4 against GCJ.

AFC Rockhouse moved up to second place in the third division table after beating Weaste United 10-4.

Paul Healey scored four of their goals while Dave Adamson notched a hat-trick.

The second placed side in the fourth division is Mark United, who were indebted to a Brad O’Neill hat-trick as they edged out Ordsall 3-2.
