Weir's goals see Celtic through

A SCOTT Weir hat-trick inspired Eccles Sunday League side Salford Celtic to a 4-2 Manchester FA Sunday Cup first round victory over Jolly Carter.

Braces by Bill Cannon and Dave Wils helped Tophouse Rangers to defeat Walkden RBL 6-2 in the preliminary round of the Margaret Piggott Memorial Cup.

In the league, Charlestown hit the Premier Division summit with a 2-1 success at GCJ.

MRI Astley lead the second division following a 6-1 win against Fox and Hounds. Terry Hulmes and James McCranagan both hit two goals as Clarendon defeated AFC Rockhouse 4-1 in Division Three.
