Will Sphinx jinx strike City again?

SALFORD City’s scheduled fourth round FA Carlsberg Vase tie at Coventry Sphinx fell victim to the heavy rain at the weekend.
The referee deemed Coventry’s pitch unplayable early enough to prevent the Moor Lane team and their supporters from travelling for the game.
Provided there is an improvement in the weather conditions in the Midlands, the game will now go ahead this Saturday, January 26, kick-off 3pm.
In turn, this will see the postponement of Salford’s Vodkat League Challenge Cup match against Atherton Collieries, which will now be played at Moor Lane on Tuesday, January 29, kick-off 7.45pm.
The departure time for the supporters’ coach to Coventry will again be 11am. Fans should call the club after 9.30am for confirmation that Saturday’s game will go ahead on: 0161 792 6287 or: 07989 800231.
With the exception of the cup-tied Steve Cunningham, City manager Gary Fellows should have a full squad to select from on Saturday.
And the extra week to prepare for the game will give midfielder Mattie Burke more time to build up his fitness levels. A leg injury has kept him out of the team since early December.
Saturday’s winners will visit Stanway Rovers or Formby in the fifth round.
