CARL Lomax produced his best performance in a Salford City shirt on Saturday and he was rewarded with the winning goal against Colne.

SALFORD City shook off last week’s shock home defeat against Silsden to maintain top spot in the Vodkat first division with a stirring display at Colne.
Bolstered by the return from suspension of Mattie Burke and Jon Robinson and with Chris Jones coming back in at full back, City showed much more commitment against difficult opponents.
They trailed 1-0 at half-time but a determined second half performance resulted in a well deserved three points. And the result kept City a point ahead of Trafford at the league’s summit.
Colne were dangerous on the counter-attack in the first half and they took the lead when Kevin Irwin latched on to a cross and fired in from close range.
City seemed more comfortable playing up the ground’s prominent slope after the break and they drew level when the hard working Burke put Robinson in the clear and his low cross was gladly dispatched by Carl Lomax.
Lomax produced his best game in a Salford shirt. And it was he who sealed the points, turning onto his left foot at the far post and driving a shot home to the delight of the sizeable travelling support behind the goals.
City’s next game is a Vodkat League Challenge Cup tie with Bacup Borough on Saturday, November 10, kick-off 3pm.
