AS the Hands Off Hope campaign came to an end this week it scored the support of two of the city's rugby stars.
Salford Reds captain Malc Alker and full back Karl Fitzpatrick threw their weight behind the fight to save Hope Hospital's maternity services.
Malc, 27, who will soon be moving to Worsley with wife Sonia, is grateful to the hospital for the care they received when their own two-year-old son Mason was born there.
He said: "My son Mason was born at Hope. He was born two weeks late and everything was fine. The care we got there was brilliant."
