Rally to support maternity unit

TODAY we make a final rallying call for you to attend a protest this weekend against plans to close Hope Hospital's maternity unit.

We need hundreds of residents to turn out in support of Hope's facilities at the rally which starts at 11am on the field next to Holyrood Nursery in Stott Lane - facing the hospital - on Saturday March 25.

Almost 22,000 signatures have now been collected for the Advertiser's Hands Off Hope petition and forms will be available to sign on the day.

Capital Gold DJ Mike Sweeney will be hosting the event which will feature various speakers campaigning to keep the service open.

Businesses are backing the event. Party organisers Abracadabra, based at Irlams o'th' Height, will be providing balloons on the day and Banners, Signs and Posters, in Bolton Road, Worsley, have made a 8ft by 2ft poster for the campaign group Families Need Hope.
