Boost to tourism
12/ 8/2005
DEVELOPERS are predicting 500,000 visitors a year will flock to the stadium.
Red City Developments say the Barton-based ground will join other attractions, including the Lowry and Ordsall Hall as tourist destinations. In a report to Salford Council, RCD says TV coverage will project a modern and vibrant Salford.
It is hoped it will improve the perceptions of the city, which was this week labelled the ninth worst place to live in the country on Channel 4's Best and Worst Places to Live.
RCD managing director Adam Thomas said: "Our report demonstrates how beneficial the stadium would be to the tourism industry and confirms how the stadium would contribute to enhancing Salford's image."
