High life!

SALFORD schoolchildren are to get a taste of the high life - thanks to the trampolining skills of a group of students from Harrop Fold High School, in Little Hulton.

Students at Harrop Fold entered a competition, called Do the Right Thing, run by Norwich Union and won £1,000 for brand new sports equipment.

The competition asks students to consider how extra money could increase participation in sport and exercise.

Harrop Fold's bid focused on developing the school's trampolining club as an asset for school and the local community.

The bid was co-ordinated by PE teacher Jennifer Bentley, who has worked hard to extend the community sports provision of the school.

Students plan to use the money to buy a new trampoline and coach younger children from local primary schools.

Headteacher Vicki Devonport said: "Our belief is that sport has the power to transform lives, and that experiences like the trampoline club by Harrop Fold have a lasting impact on young people.

"I am delighted that we've won recognition for the school's progressive and innovative sports and fitness programme, which enables students to work with youngsters from our primary schools."
