We got Tim appeal

22/12/2003

A HUGE thank you to all the generous readers who have contributed to making our annual tin appeal a massive success and this year we can guarantee your offerings couldn't be in safer hands!

Manchester United goalkeeper Tim Howard threw his backing behind the appeal, by posing for this picture with one of the many tins you sent into our offices to help make the festive season a little brighter for the city's less fortunate.

Reds fans hoping for a run of match successes in the New Year will be glad to hear he maintained a firm grip on the can throughout the photo shoot.

But as usual the biggest thanks of all must go to you for the overwhelming deluge of tins, packets, boxes and cartons you have poured into our office in response to our call to help lift festive spirits for elderly and needy families across Salford.

Salford Council social services staff have already swung into action distributing truckloads of parcels throughout the city to make sure all your tins are delivered in time for Christmas.
